Financial Support: Assistantships and Stipends
Graduate assistantships and/or fellowships are available. In most cases half-time graduate assistantships are awarded. Service as a half-time teaching assistantship currently carries a stipend with a range of $9100 to $10,700 per academic year, depending on the amount of previous training, and requires about 10 hours of work per week in support of instruction. In some cases assistantships are combined with University Fellowships which are typically awarded in sums of $500 to $1000. All assistantships carry with them full tuition waiver and eligibility to participate in a medical/dental health insurance plan. Many students are also eligible for federal Work-Study assignments.
