Occupational health psychology issues are the focus of a number of research projects that our I/O faculty and students currently have underway. Topics include the macroergonomics of hazard management and interventions to reduce musculoskeletal injuries, utility analyses for justifying OSH programs, design of rest break schedules during computer-mediated work, gender discrimination and workplace incivility, the health and psychophysiology of work teams engaged in human-computer interaction, the impact of work conditions on worker well-being, and work-life stress. 2005-2006 ongoing projects

  • dyadic aspects of the work-life interface
  • employee perceptions of participatory ergonomics
  • evaluation of participatory ergonomics in a patient lifting setting
  • impact of incivility in the workplace on work attitudes and health outcomes
  • perceived control as a mediator of relationships between satisfaction in personal life, work, and health, and expected retirement timing
  • perceived supervisor support -- development of a new measure and how it relates to workplace stress
  • procrastination and the work-life interface
  • stress and health outcomes of different strategies for coping with sexual harassment
  • stress-buffering potential of downtime recovery in reducing time-based stress
  • work-family conflict measurement issues
